The Science curriculum is designed to provide students with a variety of experiences which allow them to learn science, learn to do science, and learn about science.

Through participation in our courses, students gain, not only a knowledge of specific core concepts, but an understanding of the purposes of scientific work and the nature of the knowledge it produces. They also come to appreciate the strengths and limitations of scientific knowledge. They engage in scientific research by simulating the methods that scientists have used to answer particular questions and learn to deal with the outcomes of research by mimicking attributes such as, objectivity, logic, and intellectual honesty, widely valued by the community of professional scientists.

Students from different year levels explore the real world with excursions to places like Dreamworld, Mon Repos, Sewage treatment plant, Ululah water habitat and USQ

Students have the opportunity to participate in the Australian Schools Science Competition, the Australian National Chemistry Quiz, and the Titration Competition. Students work towards the Rio Tinto Australian Science Olympiads for Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students from year 9 and 10 can participate in the USQ Science and Engineering Challenge.

Biology students attend the USQ Biology laboratories, with their teachers,to find out about the latest in biotechnlogy.
