BYOx Program

BYOx at Aldridge

Bring your own device (BYOx) refers to programs where students bring a personally owned technology device to school for the purpose of learning. The 'x' in BYOx reflects the variable nature of devices used.

Aldridge State High School will permit a range of student devices meeting a certain specification to connect to the School’s wireless network to enable them to access classroom content. BYOx maximizes learning opportunities as students have 24 hour access to school resources.

Suitable devices

We recognises that students and their parents and caregivers would like to use the same digital devices at school and at home.

Your child should use a device that is appropriate for their current educational needs as well as their senior pathway.

Students are entitled to bring up to three devices.  The primary device MUST BE a windows based laptop, Windows 8 or 10. This provides the maximum access to school resources, therefore optimizing student learning. The secondary device can be the students’ phone which will be beneficial for DayMap timetable access and email correspondence. In order for the school to ensure the safety of its students and its computer network, only school-approved devices will be allowed into the classroom environment. This will involve a signed charter agreement that lists the responsibilities of the school, the parent/caregiver, and the student in regard to the use of the approved personally-owned device. The Charter is available from the BYOx Links section of this page.

#NOTE: For information regarding purchasing a suitable device and the school’s two purchasing portals, please read BYOx Device Options from the BYOx Links on this page.
