BYOD at Aldridge
Bring your own device (BYOD)
refers to programs where students bring a personally owned technology device to
school for the purpose of learning.
Aldridge State High School will
permit a range of student devices meeting a certain specification to connect to
the School’s wireless network to enable them to access classroom content. BYOD maximizes learning opportunities as students have 24 hour access to school
resources.
Suitable devices
We recognise that students and their parents and caregivers would like to use the same digital devices at school and at home.
Your child should use a device that is appropriate for their current educational needs as well as their senior pathway.
Student devices MUST BE a windows based laptop running Windows 10. This provides the maximum access to school resources, therefore optimizing student learning.
In order for the school to ensure the safety of its students and its computer network, only school-approved devices will be allowed into the classroom environment. This will involve a signed charter agreement that lists the responsibilities of the school, the parent/caregiver, and the student in regard to the use of the approved personally-owned device. The Charter is available from the BYOD Links section of this page.
#NOTE: When purchasing a device, ensure it meets the minimum specifications set out in the BYOD Flyer from the link on this page. To make device choice easier, and to ease the financial impact, the school has two purchasing portals: with Learning With Technology (LWT) and Hewlett Packard (HP). Both have a range of devices, all of which are education standard high quality, robust devices at better than retail prices, all with on-site warranty. Both also have a range of finance options.
